Standard Migration Overview

Illumio provides the pcemigrate and venmigrate tools to facilitate migrating from the on-prem PCE to the SaaS PCE.

This guide describes how to use these tools to migrate, the steps involved, and the limitations.

The standard migration is recommended for Illumio customers with fewer than 20,000 workloads.

Pre-Migration	1. Prepare for migration	Review the prerequisites: Before You Begin the Standard Migration Review the list of objects that are not migrated:Objects Not Migrated
	2. Learn about the migration tools	The `pcemigrate` tool helps transition on-premises clients to SaaS by facilitating object migration between two PCEs. See About the pcemigrate Tool. Use the `venmigrate` command to specify parameters for VEN migration to the target PCE and custom label application post-pairing. See About the venmigrate Tool.
	3. Learn about VEN migration scenarios	Review VEN Migration Scenarios to proceed based on your specific migration needs.
Migration	4. Perform the Initial Replication	During the Initial Replication, copies of on-premises PCE policy objects, workloads, policies, and selected configuration settings are duplicated in Illumio SaaS.
	5. Perform the migration in batches	Perform VEN Migration in Batches.
	6. Follow up on the migration process	Review Changes During the Standard VEN Migration to observe what is done during the migration.
Post-Migration	7. Conduct Post-Migration tasks	Verify that the migration is successful by reviewing Post-Migration Tasks.
